Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented  Publishing Assistant – Translation to assist in the smooth execution of our regional language publishing program. The role involves coordinating translation, review, and production processes across multiple languages, ensuring deadlines are met and supporting the senior management team in all aspects of the translation workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating the translation of selected English titles into various regional languages (Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali, Nepali, Assamese, Oriya etc.)
  • Support communication between management, translators, typesetters, and reviewers.
  • Maintain and update publication schedules for each title.
  • Follow up with translators, reviewers, and DTP teams to ensure timely submission and completion of tasks.
  • Maintain an updated database of translators, typesetters, and reviewers.
  • Assist in onboarding new translators by sharing test assignments and collecting samples for evaluation.
  • Keep track of quality assessments and communicate suggested improvements to translators/typesetters.
  • Support in collecting rate quotations from translators, typesetters, and reviewers.
  • Assist senior management in maintaining records of approved rates.
  • Assist in organizing internal presentations or meetings regarding the translations program.
  • General Administration: Maintain organized records, contracts, and files related to translations.
  • Provide support for social media promotions for translated titles, ensuring that promotional materials are created and distributed effectively across relevant platforms.
  • Create and manage metadata for translated titles for both the website and Amazon, ensuring accurate and optimized listing for better visibility and sales.

Basic Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Strong Coordination Skills: Ability to follow up and ensure smooth communication between all stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain accuracy in scheduling, documentation, and quality checks.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication in English (knowledge of regional languages a plus).
  • Basic Negotiation & Record Keeping: Assist in rate coordination and maintain proper records.
  • Proficiency in MS Office / Google Workspace: Ability to manage spreadsheets, schedules, and documents effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Marketing Support: Familiarity with social media platforms and promotional strategies to support the marketing of translated titles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (preferably in Arts, Languages, Publishing, or Management).
  • 2-3 years of experience in publishing, coordination, admin support, or similar roles.
  • Freshers with strong communication and organizational skills may also apply.
  • Familiarity with regional languages and publishing processes will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in metadata creation for websites and e-commerce platforms (especially Amazon) is a plus.
